Rent an iPhone

By Triston McIntyre

Rent an iPhoneSo, you bought your iPhone, and after some usage, you battery jumped the twig?  Never fear: in response to consumer complaints that the iPhone’s battery was irreplaceable, Apple has agreed to replace user batteries, and to really tone down your iPhone withdrawal when it is being replaced, they will rent you an iPhone for the total time it takes to replace your battery.

Of course, nothing is free, especially in an Apple world, so it’ll cost you.  Specifically, it will cost you $79.99 for your battery replacement, and then a static fee of $29.99 for your iPhone rental.

That will put you at over $110 to simply bring your iPhone back up to par.  However, that’s a far cry from the battery being irreplaceable.

What a shame users can’t just rent an iPhone without previously owning one.  That might not be a particularly bad idea on Apple’s part, considering after having some iPhone face time, most would feel that iPhone mania haze and make the full purchase.

Oh, did we mention that there’s a $6.99 shipping fee?

Sounds like a good idea to me. Took 6 months but it’s here now and available for rental/trial.
