Rumors swirl around impending Apple Media event
By Sean P. Aune
As with every time Steve Jobs summons the media for an event, rumors begin to swirl as people begin to anticipate what the announcements will be.
Rumors are rampant in the 24 hours leading up to the media event at the Apple Town Hall in Cupertino,CA. While the invite specifically pointed to it being Mac related, that hasn’t stopped everyone from speculating on other product lines.
- The .Mac site is warning that they will be down for maintenance on August 7th between 10 AM an 12 PM PDT. This time does line up with the media event, so it’s not difficult to suspect there may be new features, or refinements to existing ones, announced during this time.
- MacRumors.com is reporting that there may be new 16GB NAND Flash based video iPod Nanos in the pipeline for September. This would certainly not be unexpected with the all-important holiday shopping season quickly approaching. This still doesn’t rule out an upgrade to the top tier of the line.
- Everyone and their brother is still saying the iMac line will be updated with a brushed metal appearance. There hasn’t been any word on what the technical specs may be for the line upgrade, but it is sure to be some form of change on the interior as well as the exterior.
- Some are still saying that the Mac Mini is destined for the great Apple graveyard in the sky. Will they in turn introduce a new entry level product?
All shall be revealed by 12 PM PDT tomorrow, but that has never stopped the Apple rumor machine from going ahead with speculation and extrapolation.
