Rumor:Is the "iPod Touch" the new, must have gadget?
By Sean P. Aune
You know it’s getting close to fall when the iPod rumors just won’t stop.
9to5Mac.com, the source of yesterdays supposed iPod 3rd gen Nano picture, is now reporting on supposed details of the 6th gen iPod top-tier line.
While the colloquial name is sure to still just be “iPod”, the rumor site is reporting it will now be called the “iPod Touch”. As the name implies, it is said it will finally be a full-screen touch interface.
A more detailed list of the rumored features follows:
Same form factor as the iPhone with some notable exceptions:
- Outside rim is black, not silver like the iPhone and more flush with the screen like the 5.5G iPods not rounded like iPhone
- No ear speaker or microphone for phoning
- Thicker - slightly
Things that are the same:
- OSX Embedded OS
- 480×320 screen
- Coverflow-enabled iPod application
- Single button home navigation
At this time there is no word on WiFi, GPS, if the memory will be NAND RAM or the rumored 160GB hard drives, or the cost.
We are of course following all the rumors closely and will bring you full coverage once the official announcement is made.
