iPhone SIM hackers report success, phone now works with non-AT&T carriers
iPhoneSimFree.com is reporting they have successfully cracked the iPhone’s SIM lock, and the phone will now work with any carrier.
In what is sure to come as jubilant news to iPhone fans, but crushing news to AT&T corporate types, the six hackers working oh the iPhoneSimFree unlock solution are reporting success.
The group has contacted Engadget.com and provided them with the software to run the test themselves, and the test was successful. In a video on their site, they demonstrate an iPhone showing the T-Mobile network signal, prove they are using a T-Mobile SIM card, and make a successful call to another iPhone with it.
Some of the other details provided include:
- The hack is restore proof.
- The hackers are claiming it is also upgrade proof, but that will remain to be seen.
- YouTube has to be activated manually, but they say it’s not difficult.
- Video Voice Mail does NOT work as that is an AT&T only feature for now.
- Everything else appears to be intact and ready to go.
So, for those of you who have been cursing the fact that the iPhone was AT&T only until 2012, it seems you have jumped ahead five years, enjoy! And please text us back with winning lottery numbers.
