The word has gone out, the media is gathering, Apple has called a special event for September 5th in San Fransisco

Well, we were wrong, we thought September 18th, but the official word has gone out of a media event on September 5th.

As per usual, Apple has not said what will be introduced, but since the invite shows an image of coverflow, and has the slogan ‘The beat goes on.’, it’s not hard to guess this is the announcement of an iPod line refresh.

We will of course cover the news as soon as it happens, but until then, anyone want to make guesses at what we’ll see?
