Apple to release Aluminum MacBook line
By Jonathan Schlaffer
There is some information floating around out there that Apple is set to release a new line of MacBooks which would have an Aluminum case as opposed to the scratch prone cases of the current (non-Pro) MacBooks.
9to5 Mac is reporting that the laptops are probably MacBooks but can’t be sure they aren’t the Pro slim line laptops. They do have some information regarding the laptops but no specs of consequence.
They will feature black or silver aluminum cases, slimmer than current MacBooks and MacBook Pros, screens that go closer to the edge of the case, smaller footprint than current MacBooks, new keyboards, a redesigned touchpad, “aggressively priced,” and lastly, will be lighter than current MacBooks.
I would not rule out the use of a flash based hard drive (at least as an option) and it may lack an optical drive (due to its small size). Some things Apple should consider are a dedicated graphics card for it (please Apple because the GMA950 in use now is just horrible at everything) and better displays as we’re all painfully aware what happens with both the MacBook and MacBook Pro.
