Danish group rules against Apple in faulty iBook case

Danish group rules against Apple in faulty iBook caseFor those of you that remember the consumer complaints that were brought against Apple for defective G4 iBooks earlier this year, the Danish Consumer Complaints Board has finally reached a decision, ruling against Apple.

The group decided Apple must refund the full amount of the iBook price to all consumers of the product, regardless of whether or not it is out of warranty. It has given Apple 14 days to issue full refunds to the iBook customers, according to ArsTechnica.

The issue arose this past May when the board was made aware to a problem with faulty soldering on the units’ logic boards.

Whether or not Apple will pay is the question at this point. The board does not have any direct authority to force Apple to do, well…anything. However, they do have a blacklist of companies that haven’t conformed to their demands, and the board vows to “expose” those companies who do not comply.

As Apple is at the top of the social list of companies who have faulty products right now (what with the displays on the new iMacs, the iPod touch issues, and now the iBook), they might do well to issue refunds to those who suffered the faulty logic boards. Then again, Apple really doesn’t have to do anything they don’t want to.
