AOL Issues First Mac Software in Five-Years

September 28, 2007

AOL Issues First Mac Software in Five-Years Who knows what prompted the update, but for the first time in five-years, AOL has released new software for the Mac desktop.

While still actually a public beta, the new software is available for download from the AOL Beta site.  The site claims this is a “reaffirming its commitment to Mac users” move, one has to wonder how reaffirmed this really is with a five-year old gap in updates.

It is well known that AOL’s subscriber base has been eroded in the past few years, so is this an affirmation of the growing popularity of the Mac, or a grab at a few more customers?

This author leans towards the affirmation only because it was also announced today that Intuit is working on new versions of their Quicken software for Macs.

Add this in with Electronics Arts bring new games to the Mac as of late, it would appear that maybe Apple is being taken as a serious market once again, something it hasn’t enjoyed much of in the last several years.
