iPod Touch / iPhone 1.1.1 jailbreak released
By Danny Mendez
Toc2rta just released the jailbreak method for the recently announced mobile Safari exploit, granting users read and write access to iPhone and iPod Touch units running the 1.1.1. firmware. Aren’t you glad hackers “think different”?
If you’d like to jailbreak your iPod Touch or iPhone, take the following into consideration:
- This only works for iPhone and Touch units running the 1.1.1 firmware.
- You will need IPHUC to access the file system.
- After you jailbreak your device, you’re on your own in getting 3rd party apps installed.
- A tutorial and/or software facilitating the process and allowing you to install 3rd party apps will soon be released, so, if you don’t know what you’re doing, wait for the tutorial.
- You can permanently mess up your device by jailbreaking it, so don’t do this unless you know what you’re doing.
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way. If you still want to jailbreak your iPhone or iPod Touch this way, all you have to do is navigate to http://jailbreak.toc2rta.com on your device.
This will activate the exploit in Safari, which will then crash. Don’t worry, that’s supposed to happen. You will be returned to the home screen. If what I just described happens, it means the exploit executed.
At this point, you’re on your own. Good luck!

Call me crazy, but why would I want to risk screwing up the most elegant and amazing little device I have ever seen. I love this machine. It is exactly what I need and I can easily work around the few limitations it has using web based email and google calendar. I trust that new applications will be coming that will not endanger the OS and for now I am very very happy with what I have.
