Updated: Apple to announce Leopard’s release date tomorrow?

By Danny Mendez

Apple to announce Leopard's release date tomorrow? With Apple widely expected to release the latest Mac operating system, Leopard, this month, the latest rumor making the its way across the web says Apple will make an announcement as early as tomorrow.

The most likely date for Leopard to hit store shelves is the 26th, according to the generally reliable Think Secret. In an update to the early October rumor, Think Secret reports that it has confirmed the date with “multiple sources”.

Furthermore, MacRumors and AppleInsider are both reporting, according to their own respective sources, that Apple is expected to make an announcement regarding Leopard very, very soon. While the announcement could hit as early as tomorrow, don’t be surprised if nothing happens as the information is considered unconfirmed at the moment.

Supporting these rumors, a Gold Master candidate build of the operating system was just released internally at Apple, meaning Leopard is very close to seeing the (retail store) light of day.

Update: Yes, they did announce it. Get the details here.
