Is Apple prepping a UMPC for next year?
According to Piper Jaffray, the analyst firm sees Apple announcing an Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) within the next 4 – 6 months.
Investment banking firm, Piper Jaffray, feels that Apple is set to move in to the UMPC market in the coming year. According to an article at AppleInsider, the ultra mobile device would be smaller than the current 13-inch MacBooks, and would address the Asian markets, were UMPCs are popular, more.
The analyst, Gene Munster, goes on to say that he feels the device will incorporate all the features of the iPhone, but will add items it is missing such as more storage and a full-sized, physical keyboard.
The logical announcement time for this, if it were to come true, would be at Macworld in January, but we’ll have to wait and see if this is more than just speculation.
