800 Apple employees sacked for iPhone fraud
By Triston McIntyre
Apple employees worldwide shouted for joy when Steve Jobs said he would give all Apple employees of more than a year’s service free iPhones; apparently free toys weren’t good enough for 800 of them, because those very employees were just fired for trying to cash in the $100 rebate on top of having their free iPhones.
That’s right…800 employees of over a year with Apple were given the boot because they essentially tried to steal $100 on top of their free iPhones. Apple was most likely not too happy with the notion of shelling out an additional $80,000 on top of both the free iPhones to employees and $100 rebates to disgruntled early adopters.
Apparently those employees thought Apple wouldn’t notice when they were signing the checks to refund cashers that the names matched up exactly to say, 800 of their employees. Those 800 employees must have been quite disgruntled or dissatisfied with Apple to throw it all away for $100…even after receiving free gear.
