Apple limits iPhone purchases to 2 per customer

Apple limits iPhone purchases to 2 per customerApple has decided to limit the number of iPhones a single customer can purchase to 2; though opting to force a limit will undoubtedly frustrate Christmas shoppers, here are a few reasons Apple may have chosen to do so.

A recent report uncovered that 1 in 6 iPhones were being hacked to run on networks other than AT&T; though some feel that users should be allowed the rights to hack their iPhones, Apple assuredly wants to put a stop to such practices. If Apple allows phones to be unlocked and edited using software that contradicts and edits the existing secure software, quality control goes right out the window, and Apple’s image would be tarnished.

Furthermore, managing distribution and stockpiles of iPhones would be terribly difficult if, when the Christmas season rolls around, people begin buying cartfulls of the phones. There’s a chance distribution would become severely unbalanced, and there could be a Christmas fiasco on Apple’s hands. If Apple limits sales to 2 per customer per visit, sure, customers might slightly be inconvenienced, but much less than having none whatsoever available to them.

Also, in regards to unlocking, Apple earns more money per iPhone if the phone is used on the AT&T network. If phones are utilized for any other network, Apple loses money, and we all know, Apple isn’t in the technology business for the love of the game.

There you have it: if you’re looking to get more than 2 iPhones, you might have to experience the inconvenience of leaving the store and re-entering it for a second purchase. Can you really blame them?
