Updated: iPhone 1.1.2 firmware officially available; jailbreak broken

By Danny Mendez

iPhone 1.1.2 firmware officially available; jailbreak brokenFor all you iPhone wielders out there, the 1.1.2 iPhone firmware is officially out. Now the biggest questions on our minds: Does it break our jailbreaks?

The folks at Engadget are currently testing out the update, and their results support that the update will break your jailbreak, putting your iPhone back into its stock state. Trying to re-jailbreak the device using jailbreakme.com ends in failure. Lame.

Anyway, the iPhone firmware update is currenlty known to add support for several languages with special keyboad layouts according to T3. Other than that, the update should also add access to Cloud Wi-Fi hotspots.

By the way, you have to download the update manual as of the writing of this post because it hasn’t hit iTunes yet. Download here.

Update: The quick-acting hacking community figured out a way to update jailbroken units to 1.1.2 without breaking the jailbreak.
