Campfire for iPhone released

By Leslie Poston

Campfire for iPhone released Campfire has finally been released for the iPhone. Campfire is a business chat application that lets you communicate with your project team members and employees in real time online. It includes group chat, file sharing, photo and video sharing capabilities and more.

It has become a well known and much-used application for business users. Its browser based operation makes it a snap to share. Up until now it hasn’t worked well with the iPhone interface, chasing some users away. This release makes it iPhone compatible.

Why does being iPhone compatible matter? Because the iPhone is trying to position itself as more than just a cool toy for apple lovers and gadget heads. It wants its place in the market as a business machine - a fully functional smart phone to replace your Blackberry or other PDA.

So far its web functionality has given the best edge in the business market, in addition to its easy to use interface that just about anyone can master. It has lacked a great business sharing and chat client (iChat is good, but doesn’t offer the full functionality that programs like this one do). Campfire’s new release may solve that problem for many business users.

If you want to develop your own version of Campfire, or add functionality to it, you can find their API, Tinder, online here. Currently, up to 60 people can chat at once using Campfire. You can also share and discuss photos, videos and files in real time, conduct Q&A sessions and more.
