Not that this will come as a particularly big surprise, considering NBC’s harsh falling out with Apple recently, but Apple doesn’t want to go play in the sandbox with NBC and its bully friends AT&T, Microsoft, Sandisk and Phillips; those select few have united against filesharing in a sort of DRM alliance, but Apple won’t have any part in it.

Word on the street is "the new Mac Pro is the fastest Mac" ever built. Released along side a new Xserve today, these machines aren’t hip enough for the official Macworld keynote later this month, so the company announced them today.

The AppleTV hasn’t sold well, or as well as Apple would like it to have.  As a result, the company is looking for ways to reinvigorate the AppleTV which may include things such as 24 hour movie rentals and direct movie downloads to the AppleTV.

Praise be to the free software gods!  Transmission, the uber-popular torrent client for OS X, has officially “made it,” reaching 1.00 version status.Transmission has long been touted by the Mac torrent community as one of, if not the best, torrent clients due to its system-light requirements, speedy performance and ease of use.  However, for a long while it has been in beta, though it was quite functional and enjoyable. Now it is updated to a fully-functional version with a new look and more functionality.  Best of all, it is still free as ever.  

Apple offers a lovely line of portable units in the MacBook and MacBook Pro (and whatever the new ultra-portable is to be called come MacWorld January 15^th); I recently wrote an article documenting 5 reasons the MacBook Pro is great for everyday usage, not just professional applications.  In this article I’ll give you my continued impressions and recommendations based on using the MacBook Pro for a longer period of time.
