Apple launches the 16GB iPhone, 32GB iPod touch. Is an updated MacBook Pro imminent?
By Opal Tribble
Apple has added two new models to its line of iPhone and iPod touch. The new models have received a huge increase in memory. The iPhone is available in a 16GB model for $499. It joins the 8GB model which is available for $399. The iPod touch is now available in a 32GB model for $499. It joins the 8GB model which is available for $299, and the 16GB model which is available for $399.
“For some users, there’s never enough memory,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPod and iPhone Product Marketing.
“Now people can enjoy even more of their music, photos and videos on the most revolutionary mobile phone and best Wi-Fi mobile device in the world
Both the iPhone and the Ipod touch offer feature the multi-touch interface. This feature is based on the gesture language developed by Fingerworks. This company has been part of Apple since July 2005. This revolutionary multi-touch trackpad lets you navigate your applications more effectively. Apple extended this feature to the MacBook Air as the multi-touch track pad. Naturally, this caused many people to speculate that this feature would be carried over into the updated MacBook Pro line. That seems highly likely.
Earlier today three Apple stores (USA, Canada, and Mexico) were closed for maintenance. Speculations started to fly about which product line would be updated. An Apple store will occasionally be offline for maintenance; however, a new product launch is usually saved for Tuesday.
If you were looking for a MacBook Pro updated you’ll have to sit tight a bit longer. With the iPhone and iPod touch models being updated perhaps a Macbook Pro update is right around the corner?
