Bullfrog – free Mac game reviewed: Gobble up the insects before the time runs
Are you looking for a new game to try out on your Mac? Check out Bullfrog. Bullfrog is an entertaining arcade style Mac game that is guaranteed to provide a lot of addictive bug munching fun.
The game is set in the Bullfrog’s home. However, your home is being invaded by annoying insects. It’s a good thing that insects happen to be one of your favorite meals, and you have an insatiable appetite. Your mission is to gobble up all the insects that have invaded your home before the time runs out. You have 30 seconds. Lucky for you the bullfrog has a healthy appetite. Judging by how quickly the bullfrog eats his food without side effects he doesn’t seem to suffer from indigestion.
As in real life the insects that invade Bullfrog can be downright annoying. Some of them can be elusive.
Each round brings along a new breed of insect. That’s even better the Bullfrog likes variety in its diet. Bees can be seen on some levels and if you gobble them up. You will get a bonus. Time will be added to your clock. You better move fast the bees can be fairly fast little buggers so they won’t sit there letting you eat them. You have to work for that bonus.
Be on the lookout for the pesky mosquito that makes its way into some of the rounds has to be eaten quickly. If it lands on you it will suck away precious seconds. You will encounter six different types of insects in this game so your Bullfrog won’t get bored of eating the same insect.
Bullfrog is a kid friendly game that your entire family can enjoy it. My four-year old daughter booted me off my 17″ MacBook Pro so she could have some fun with the game. The game easy to learn, and her bullfrog was gobbling up insects within a few minutes.
Controlling the frog’s actions is simple. You use the arrow keys and spacebar for most of the game play. The left arrow key makes your frog hop to the left. Hit the right arrow key and your frog will hop to the right. Clicking on the up arrow and your frog will start hopping. The space key will cause the frogs red tongue to shoot out of its mouth and snatch up a tasty insect. You can pause the game by hitting the “P” key and take screenshots of your frog in action by hitting the “/” key.
You also have the option to submit your scores. If you’re a master Bullfrog zapper your score will be seen by others. Although I haven’t cracked that list yet due its addictive nature it’s only a matter of time before I join the ranks of Bullfrogs with a greedy appetite.
