Airport Express 802.11n.pngThere had been speculation whether Apple would update their Airport Express it seemed logical since we have recently seen updates to the Airport Express, Macs, and Time Capsule. Recently, Apple unveiled the updated Airport Express 802.11n.

“Apple is leading the way with a broad range of innovative 802.11n base stations for almost any wireless networking need,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “From the
small and portable AirPort Express, to AirPort Extreme for workgroups of up to 50 users and the new Time Capsule for automated backups, Apple customers now have more great ways to extend their wireless networks with 802.11n.”

With the MacBook Air, Apple gave us the thinnest computer, now they are giving us the smallest 80211n base station. The 802.11n is the major update you’ll see in the Airport Express. The prior models used the standard 802.11g. Apple also claims that the new Airport Express offers twice the range as the previous model and delivers five times the performance. Set up is a breeze you plug the Airport Express directly into a wall outlet to enjoy the benefits of wireless connection. With the Airport Express 802.11n you can connect a total of ten computers from the Airport Express. In my household, I have five computers connected to my base station is an older model. AirPort Express features AirTunes, which works seamlessly with iTunes. Air Tunes gives the user a practical way to wirelessly stream iTunes music from a Mac or Pc to any room in the house. You can purchase the Airport Express 802.11n for $99 from your local Apple store.
