Apple updates Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro 6.0.3 and Compression 3.0.3
Good news, Apple has updated Final Cut Studio. The download is 63.7MB and is recommended for all users.
When opening some projects, Final Cut Pro 6.0.2 would sometimes erroneously display a message warning that the project was unreadable or too new for that version of Final Cut Pro. This problem has been fixed in Final Cut Pro 6.0.3.
Another problem that some users were experiencing problems with images being scaled when it was exported. (I was on one of the users that experienced this problem.) Final Cut Pro 6.0.3 has fixed this issue. Still images will now be exported at their native export ration. Final Cut Pro 6.0.3 now supports Sony XDCAM HD422. This is a video format used by Sony in its HD camcorder line.
According to the Apple support site Compression 3.0.3 now gives Final Cut Studio users the option to
“create medial files for Apple TV with anamorphic (non-square) pixel aspect ratios. The pixels are scaled by Apple TV to fit the intended aspect ratio during playback.”
Final Cut Pro is a professional non-linear editing system that has been popular with independent filmmakers and is starting to be used by Hollywood film editors. What I like about Final Cut Pro is the ability to edit a variety of digital formats such as DV, HDV, DVCProHD, XDCAM, 2K, and IMAX film formats. Recently, Apple finally released Final Cut Server which is tightly integrated wit Final Cut Pro.
