Rumor: Will we see an aluminum MacBook?
Many have speculated that the MacBook computers will be receiving an aluminum casing. Recently a worker, from a Taiwanese case manufacturing company, posted to one of the largest based technology forums in Taiwan.
Apple Insider reported that the worker claimed that their employer had recently received an order to produce enclosures for the new MacBook systems. Since a non-disclosure agreement had been signed the worker was reluctant to respond to questions that came from his claim; however, he did say that the order was only for traditional aluminum colored casings.
Mac.BlORGE has reported about the aluminum MacBook casings before. If Apple follows their usual schedule, we’ll be seeing an update to the MacBook lineup later this year. I use the 17″ MacBook Pro. The MacBook line never appealed to me and one of the turnoffs besides not having a dedicated graphics card was the plastic casing.
J.P Morgan recently reported that strong MacBook sales would make up for the lagging sales of iPhone and theiPod. If this rumor is indeed true I wonder if the MacBook’s will receive another boost to their sales?
I’m a frequent reader of the Apple forums, and I’ve read mixed reviews about the MacBook casing while some love it others have complained that it is prone to cracking. I use a 17″ MacBook Pro which already has the aluminum casing. I haven’t had any problems with it.
If the rumor turns out to be true, perhaps Apple will feature thew new MacBooks in colored aluminum. The MacBook is currently available in white and black. Then again Apple might want all their Mac computers to have a similar look?
What else can we hope to see in an updated MacBook? Adding a dedicated graphics card in the MacBook would be nice. I imagine the multi-touch trackpad will finally make its way into the MacBook lineup. Steve Jobs stated that MacBook technology would be making its way into a variety of Mac products.
