Apple releases Firmware Restoration CD 1.7; A must have download for those unsuccessful in downloading software to their Mac
Apple has released the Firmware Restoration CD 1.7. The Firmware restoration CD 1.7 will assist you if you were interrupted or unsuccessful in downloading a software application.
Firmware Restoration CD 1.7 will reset some of your Mac preferences back to its default setting. If you are experiencing this problem on your current Mac computer, you will need to download the update from another Macintosh computer. If that isn’t possible you can take your Mac computer to an Apple store or authorize Apple service provider.
What can’t this CD be used for? You can’t use the CD to restore to an earlier version of a software application if it were updated sucessfully.
The Firmware Restoration CD download is 22.5MB. I made a copy onto a CD early this morning although I don’t anticipate having this issue I want to be on the safe side.
Please make sure you download the correct firmware for your computer. Not all Mac models use the same restoration CD. I’ve included the information below.
Computer Model Identifier
- iMac (Early 2006 17 and 20-inch) iMac4,1
- iMac (Mid 2006 17-inch) iMac4,2
- Mac mini (Early 2006) MacMini1,1
- Mac mini (Late 2006) MacMini1,1
- MacBook MacBook1,1
- MacBook Pro (15-inch) MacBookPro1,1
- MacBook Pro (17-inch) MacBookPro1,2
- MacBook Pro (2.4/2.2 GHz 15-inch and 17 inch) MacBookPro3,1
- Go to the Apple menu
- Click on More Info. This will open System Profiler
- The Model Identifier is located under Hardware Overview. For example on mine it states MacBook Pro1,2
- Make sure the model information matches the list above.
Where is Model Identifier located on my Mac computer?
If your Mac computer isn’t on the list you might need to download Firmware Restoration CD 1.4.
