Apple: Third party developers can now download Aperture 2.1 SDK
By Opal Tribble
Recently when I logged into Apple developer website, I noticed that Apple had released Aperture 2.1 SDK. This past March Aperture 1.5 was upgraded to Aperture 2. The upgrades for Aperture 2 were impressive. As an Aperture user I was extremely impressed with the upgrades. Apple also lowered its price.
Included in the Aperture 2 update was a plug in tool that would give third party developers the opportunity to add editing tools. Larger developers like Digital Film Tools, Nik Software, dvGarage, and quite a few other has already been working on third party plug ins. Aperture 2.1 SDK was released so that you, providing that you have the necessary skills, can create third party plug ins also.
You have to be a member of ADC to download Aperture 2.1 SDK. If you would like to create editing tools for Aperture 2.1 and you aren’t a member of the Apple Developer Connection you can log onto the Apple Developer Connection for sign up. The sign up process is easy, and you have several memberships to choose from.

The sad thing is that Aperture always creates a psd file and the plugins will make destructive adjustments on that file. This is how the plugin architecture in Aperture 2.1 works…
