Video of Psystar Mac "clone" surfaces and it appears legit
By Jonathan Schlaffer
Psystar got off to a rough start, first it couldn’t get its address right then it couldn’t get it right a second or even a third time and second there were questions as to whether it was legitimate or not. Well, it appears that the company may indeed be real because a video of what may be the first "in the wild" Psystar Mac "clone" has surfaced.
Gizmodo has an exclusive video of the machine booting into Mac OSX and while it definitely looks like a machine that Psystar advertises, it could just be another hackintosh made from PC parts and the same case that Psystar would have used. Call me a skeptic but take it for what it is, an Internet post.
Having said that, the machine boots up with the ugliness that is a PC BIOS, runs the usual diagnostics and begins the process of booting Mac OSX but it sounds like it uses a vacuum cleaner motor as its cooling fan.
The company makes no secret of the fact that it uses the OSx86 project to get this stuff working and does not have the permission of Apple or the project to do so which is very illegal.
I’m sure the folks over at Apple or the OSx86 project aren’t very happy right now and if this machine did indeed originate from Psystar, I can hear lawyers drooling over at Apple right now; it won’t be long before they go a knocking on Psystar’s door.

Apple has the tough job of putting the toothpaste back in the tube. Once the decision to go with Intel was made, this was inevitable.
I’m posting this on my Core Duo, Intel 945GM, 2 gig, 160 gig SATA Dell with a 17″ screen I bought over 2 years ago for $799. It’s also running OSX86 10.5.2 flawlessly and the tweaks I needed to make it go were trivial. CPU speed stepping, power management, wireless (I had to put my old Dell 1390 Broadcom mini pci-e back in because it didn’t like the Intel) and this is using the vanilla Apple OSX kernel. They can squash Psystar easily, but stopping the use of OSX on non-Macs is going to be tough.
It’s just a pretty face on BSD and the ability of the slightly above average user to make it work is now a reality. I’m forcing myself to use it as my main OS for the next month, Linux is a better environment for me, for the experience. I’ve downloaded and installed updates from Apple with no problem, but I suspect any kernel or video updates will pooch it.
It’s booting fine off the Linux Grub multiboot utility Jonathan is so fond of, but I did need to use the CLI to enter one command.
Congratulations Apple. You have now moved from boutique to beleaguered and somewhere Ballmer is monkey dancing.

just saying, if you google the nick of the guy who posted the video you get results from a hackintosh forum. still could be a scam. maybe they just sent that pc to cnet to trick others into believing is legit.
even if it exists, i think it is a complete rip-off. they just made lots of money from the buzz created online for a product they did not even made. they simply assembled some pc parts n not more. it wasnt n it isnt, obviously, a company, but some opportunists. they wont get more customers but already made their profit. they didnt even deserve, rightly, a comment from apple.
i say its 2 kids with ur moneyz. lulz.
