OQO runs Leopard; becomes worlds first palm sized Mac
If you aren’t aware of the OQO, it is a palmtop computer that packs most of the computing power of your average laptop in a tiny form factor. Typically it ships with Windows Vista but an enterprising user managed to get it running Mac OSX Leopard making it the first palm sized Mac.
According to Engadget, it’s not exactly a speed demon, taking about two and a half minutes to boot Leopard but WiFi, sound, Bluetooth and power management work. All the features of Leopard are fully functional including Time Machine. WWAN doesn’t work and it took a bit to get Leopard installed but it was "doable."
The OQO is powered by a VIA C7 1.6GHz/1.5GHz/1.2GHz processor with 1GB of memory and comes with either a 120GB, 60GB or 40GB HD with 64GB or 32GB SSD options.
It’s processor is no doubt the limiting factor when running Leopard and during the demo video, you could definitely hear the cooling fans spin up to keep it from overheating, at least, I think that’s what that noise was.
The hack isn’t for your average user so I wouldn’t rush right out and buy an OQO just for the hope of putting Leopard on it because it’s harder than it looks, actually, no, it’s harder than that.

As usual, it was done with several versions of Linux that are actually better suited for the task:
