Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock free upgrade helps MacBook run it better

By Leslie Poston

Acer released a Mac conversion for Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock a while back that Mac users love. It lets you put Guitar Hero 3 onto your Mac and play it without the need for a console. The controller it uses is a guitar shaped USB connector.

The patch released for the desktop version of the popular video game has plenty of improvements to the game that indirectly improve your laptop playing experience. In addition to some back end improvements that affect speed and ease of use, they did some tweaks and added some features that help the laptop user as well.

What can players look forward to? The Front Row Cam is a new feature allowing users to force better performance out of the game if you are using a low-end desktop or laptop configuration. This should help people with the underperforming GMA950 graphics configuration.

in addition to the behind the scenes laptop improvements for smoother gaming and better screen resolution, there is a new battery life add on that will be a huge help to laptop gamers. The game now tracks your battery use with a visible meter, preventing game loss from sudden laptop power downs.

The patch is version 1.3 and can be download from Aspyr Media directly. The download is free for anyone who already owns the Guitar Hero 3 desktop conversion.
