Apple: iTunes strikes a deal with HBO

Good news! Sopranos, Sex in the City, Deadwood, The Wire, Rome, and Flight of the Conchords are HBO shows that have finally made an appearance in the Apple iTunes store. Recently Apple and HBO struck a deal so now iTunes users who watch thes shows will be able to catch some of their favorite episodes by purchasing and downloading a digital copy via iTunes.
You will notice a slight jump in price for at least one of the shows. The standard price is $1.99 per episode; however, if you want to purchase the an episode from the popular series The Sopranos the cost will be $2.99 per episode. It will be interesting to see whether we see other studios offer their episodes at the higher price.
It’s great to see that iTunes is continuing to expand its selection. Downloading TV shows, or movies are a wonderful alternative especially for the person who finds that they rarely have time to watch a show when it airs at its regular time. Downloading TV shows through the iTunes store gives the user to watch an episode at their convenience. Admittedly, I don’t watch too much television, I never seem to have the time to watch anything in its entirety but I’ll be purchasing a few episodes of the Sopranos.
HBO also offers free podcasts. Currently there are thirteen available a few of them are Real Time with Bill Maher, Russel Simmons Def Comedy Jam, Real Sport with Bryant Gumbel, and HBO Latino.
At this time their are only 6 HBO series to choose from. In time hopefully they will add additional shows to the lineup. Signing up for iTunes is free and is available to Macintosh and Windows users simply log onto the Apple iTunes website. Download and Enjoy!
