Apple fixes iCal bugs in Mac OS X 10.5.3
Recently I wrote about the iCal bugs that were discovered by Rodrigo Carvalho of Core Security Technologies. Core Security Chief Technology Officer Ivan Arce said at the time the company felt that it could not wait for Apple to address this issue.
The bugs that were reported by Core Security Technologies could be exploited causing a crash to iCal or execute arbitrary code through malicious calendar updates, or by importing a certain type of calendar file (.ics). Once the report was released it was the focus of a lot of discussion on a variety of Mac related forums.
The release of Mac OS X 10.5.3 was a major update that fixed numerous issues with Leopard. iCal received numerous fixes. Including reliability issues with meeting alarms, invitations, attachments along with issues with iCal syncing.
Mac OS 10.5.3 is recommended for Mac users running Mac OS X 10.5, 10.5.1, and 10.5.2 (Leopard.)
