Apple: Rumors surrounding the 3G iPhone will be put to rest at WWDC ‘08

June 9, 2008

steve_jobs_iphone.jpgIt’s close, in a matter of hours the much anticipated event The Worldwide Developers Conference ‘08 will be underway. many people will be tuning in to see what goodies Steve Jobs will be pulling out of the Apple hat. Top on the list is the iPhone 2.

The mystery and hype surrounding the next generation iPhone will thankfully be laid to rest. All the questions, speculations, and rumors will be answered. Hopefully we won’t be seeing anymore fake iPhone photos at least not for a little while.

If you are unable to attend the event and still want to tune into what is going on you’ll be able to do so. Unfortunately, live streaming video of the actual event won’t be offered however, you can tune into the event by logging onto Digital Lifestyle, they will be covering WWDC 2008 before, during, and after the event. Coverage begins at noon/ET and 9:00 AM/PT. I’d advise you to log, they have only room for 30,000 people and spaces will fill quickly.

Currently Apple is the worlds #3 smartphone vendor. In the U.S they top the charts at #2, with 19.2% of the market share according to IDC. What Apple has done in a short period of time is truly impressive. Apple started selling smartphones a little under a year ago. Steve Jobs announced the iPhone at the MacWorld Expo on January 21, 2007, and it was released on June 29, 2007.

I’m hoping Apple makes the 3G iPhone available to other mobile carriers. The good news is we should see an 3G iPhone for under $200, well at least that is what Financial Times have reported. The iPhone would be subsidized by the mobile carriers which would enable consumers to purchase it for a significantly lower price. I’m definitely looking forward to WWDC 08, and hopefully I’ll be able to snag an iPhone 3G.
