Apple: TV shows have been added to the Australia iTunes store

By Opal Tribble

itunes-logo.JPGiTunes Australia users discovered a nice surprise when they logged onto iTunes this morning. TV shows are now available for download. Although there hasn’t been, an official word from Apple iTunes users are now able to download and purchase TV shows by logging onto the Apple iTunes store.

Currently iTunes Australia users have 23 shows available. Currently the selections offered are a mix of local and import TV shows. A few of the local shows currently being offered are McLeod’s Daughters, Surfing the Menu, Summer Heights High, and Sea Patrol. iTunes Australia users will also be able to select a from a variety of American imports like Desperate Housewives, Hannah Montana, Lost, Pimp My Ride, Scrubs, and South Park. South Park has been extremely popular with Apple iTunes Australia. Seven of its episodes have made it to the top ten list.

iTunes Australia will offer free and pay TV shows. Unlike America and the UK iTunes Australia isn’t showing a fluctuation in the pricing of TV shows, at least not yet, across the board the shows are $2.99 per episode. If you are looking for season passes currently they aren’t available so users will have to purchase seasons at cost. Television networks that will be featured will be ABC Studios, Disney, Nine Network, along with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

I’m a big fan of the iTunes store and have purchased many movies that watch on my Apple TV and occasionally my 17″ MacBook Pro. If you are an iTunes users living in Australia log onto the iTunes store, check out the selections available, purchase, and download your favorite show. Enjoy!

Australia made Apple news last week when its first Apple retail store opened on June 19, 2008 in Sydney, Australia.
