Apple: Are we looking at the next gen MacBook Pro?

By Opal Tribble

apple.jpegWith summer in full swing, and after the iPhone 3G frenzy has calmed down (it will be released this Friday July 11) many people will be eagerly looking forward to “leaks” about the updated MacBook Pro lineup. What should we expect? This past February Apple updated the MacBook and the MacBook Pro lineup; however, it wasn’t a major update.

Apple Insider, along with a few other websites have posted pictures of what the updated MacBook Pro will look like. Is it fact or fiction? Well, we won’t know for sure until an updated MacBook Pro has been released however, if you look closely at the pictures you’ll notice a few things have changed on the MacBook Pro’s casing. Over the past few months many have suggested that the updated MacBook Pro’s will emulate the MacBook Air. The photos reveal a more tapered design, like the MacBook Air and it appears to be thinner. I like the MacBook Air’s design I just hope we don’t get the black keyboard. It’s one features I really didn’t like about the MacBook Pro.

Judging by the picture the battery cover will be narrower and longer and will be accessible by a latch. Some reports claim that the hard drive will also be located here. The familiar logo that graces the top of the Mac notebooks top shell has undergone some changes as well. It’s recessed, and you will notice that there are three holes that sink even further into the Apple logo. Some have speculated that these have been hallowed out the Mac notebooks light can shine through.

It’s obvious that the aluminum casing isn’t going anywhere. Take a look at the iMacs? It received an aluminum casing with its refresh, and the newest Mac to enter the lineup, MacBook Air, also sports an aluminum casing. It’s apparent that Apple is obviously going for a uniform look with its Mac computers. In order, to make its product line more eco-friendly many are speculating that aluminum casings will make an appearance in the MacBook lineup. That should make GreenPeace happy. In June’s report Greenpeace knocked Apple down a few pegs. Apple now ranks at 4.1, before they received a ranking of 6.

I’ll be upgrading my 17″ MacBook Pro. I’ll be getting the same size. I’m hoping for a larger trackpad, faster processor, longer battery life, and an aluminum keyboard. Naturally, as the attention turns from the iPhone 3G we’ll see even more pictures, and additional information posted about the updated MacBook Pro. Mac.Blorge will l keep you posted.
