Apple updates iTunes to iTunes 7.7.1; Apple employee explains the update in detail
When I logged onto my MacBook Pro this morning I noticed that there was a new update available for iTunes. iTunes has been updated to iTunes 7.7.1.
Logging onto the Apple website you see the standard message that accompanies many of the software updates. The update improves stability and performance issues. I normally log onto the Apple forums after software has been updated to see whether Apple employees or Mac users have added additional information regarding the update.

According to iTunes Mike, an Apple employee who commented on a post regarding this update, the bug fix “only affected non Unicode ID3 tags (which are used in some MP3 files) on Mac OS older than 10.5.” He went on to mention that AAC and Lossless always use Unicode so they weren’t affected.
He also mentioned that the bug should fix a bug that prevented audio CD’s from being ejected while the user was running iTunes. I think it’s great that an Apple employee stopped by the forums to answer the questions that users had regarding this update; however, I do wish that Apple would include this information on its software update page.
A few users also mentioned that they were now experiencing faster backups of their iPhones before the update it was taking an extremely long time to complete this process, in some instances it was taking several hours.
The last software update that Apple released for iTunes (7.7) was released on the same day of the iPhone 3G release; July 11. iTunes users were able to access the App store from iTunes. They were able to browse, purchase, and download Apps to use on their iPhone or their iPod touch. When the App store was launched a little over 500 Apps were available for download, with a few hundred being available for free.
In order, to take advantage of this download the software requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later for iTunes functions. To receive iPhone support you need to be running Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later. iTunes 7.7.1 is a 48MB download you can access it by clicking on the Apple Menu + Software update or you can go directly to the Apple iTunes 7.7.1 download page.
I use iTunes daily so far I haven’t noticed any noticeable changes performance wise. Leave us a comment if you’ve noticed any differences.

Using iTunes 7.7.1 on Windows XP.
iTunes 7.7.1 fixed a problem on iTunes 7.7 when my iPods were only recognized after more than 1 minute. During that time iTunes would seem to lock up and it was only when the iPod became recognized iTunes became responsive again.

iTunes 7.7.1 also recently lost the connection to
at least 5 of the 128k playlists from radioio.com.
My ISP says the problem is from Apple.
I tried version 8.o whatever and encoding from one format to another is now hobbled. I’m just going to use itunes until all the radio channels are gone because I need the encoding feature the the newest version doesn’t have.

I fixed the problem with 7.7.1 and sorry, Apple,
it wasn’t your fault about the radio stations, it was the media website after all. The economy making cutbacks necessary, etc.
