Apple releases MacBook Air software update 1.0; fixes video playback and processor core idling

MacBook-Air.jpgRecently, Apple released an update for the MacBook Air. The MacBook Air software update 1.0 isn’t a large file. It weighs only 368 KB. Problems that have been resolved within this software update include issues with video playback and processor idling.

Logging onto Apple’s MacBook Air software update page the notes says, “Third party software that modifies processor operating characteristics such as frequency and voltage” isn’t supported and should be removed before installing the update.

Typical of Apple you won’t find too much information regarding this update on the Apple support page. I checked the Apple support forums to see whether I could find additional information regarding the fix, and thus far MacBook Air users have been quiet.

The MacBook Air software update requires Mac OS X 10.5.4 or later. If you’ve been waiting for a refresh to the MacBook Air lineup it looks like you will have longer to wait. Rumors have been flying about a refresh to the MacBook Air lineup. Sources claim that we will receive an updated MacBook Air soon. They claim we should expect to see Penryn processors along with a higher capacity battery.

  • Troubleshooting
  • if you’ve run into issues with your MacBook Air and would like to resolve them without contacting Apple support or logging onto the Apple support website you can check to see if your problem is addressed here. It covers topics such as troubleshooting the MacBook Air SuperDrive. You’ll also find the steps you need to take in case your MacBook Air stops working.

If you weren’t greeted with an update message when you logged onto your MacBook Air log onto the Apple support page and download MacBook Air software update 1.0. You can also the software update by clicking on the Apple icon located in the top left hand corner once the drop down menu opens you need to click on software update.
