netnewswire.pngWhile I was working on my 17″ MacBook Pro yesterday I noticed that NetNewsWire had released a software update. I wasn’t expecting one so quickly since it had been updated last week. When users log onto NetNewsWire they are asked whether they would like to update their version to NetNewsWire 3.1.7b7/1237. Unlike the update that was rolled out last week, you won’t see too many changes within this update. According to the notes included with the install, the changes include an updated French localization from Corentin has been added.

I downloaded the update earlier this morning, and thus far I have not noticed any changes. The same wasn’t the case when I added the install last week. NetNewsWire 3.1.7b4 added some impressive features within its update. Users were greeted with a brand-new user interface, complete with new toolbar icons. Additionally, cosmetic enhancements such as feed cover art along with tabs with thumbnails and animation were included within the update. Also, included was an improved Combined View with boasted multiple pages that were capable of displaying a long list of items.

NetNewsWire, for those who aren’t familiar with this application, is a news aggregator that was created for Mac users. I held off using RSS feeds for a long time; however, as the websites I visited continued to increase I realized I needed it would be beneficial to read all the information from one location. NetNewsWire has definitely fit the bill, and I cannot imagine not using it. Currently I have over 300 websites added to NetNewsWire. I really enjoy the convenience of visiting my websites from one location.

If you would like to use NetNewsWire on your mobile device you can do that also. NetNewsWire has created a mobile application for iPod touch and iPod users; you can onto the App Store to download the NetNewsWire Application. The mobile application was released on the first day that the App store opened. Both versions of NetNewsWire are free to use.

News aggregators like NetNewsWire make it possible for readers to keep tabs on the websites they frequently visit provided that the website has an RSS feed. NewsGator is the company behind NetNewsWire. It is also the company behind FeedDemon a popular news aggregator for Windows users.
