You may recall when Apple was at the center of controversy when it introduced "Dashboard" in Mac OS X, which was a little to similar to a desktop widget program named the Konfabulator. It looks like the company is trotting down the same path with its recent patent filing for a notification screen on the iPhone.

Yes, 10.6% U.S. laptop market share doesn’t sound that impressive, but when you think of the hurdles Apple has had to jump to get to this milestone, you’ll realize it wasn’t a small feat. Has Apple’s success been the product of skill and key management, or was it just a heavy dose of good luck?

Microsoft has taken a beating in the customer relations department in recent months. Between the botched release of Vista and Apple’s funny and wildly successful ad campaign featuring John Hodges as the inept PC and Justin Long as the hipster Mac, it was time to fight back.

I hope that soon this tip sheet becomes obsolete. Apple could make that happen with a simple firmware update for this problem, I’m guessing. I’m also guessing they may be dragging their heels on it in spite of criticism because of a possible pending release of new MacBooks and MacBook Pros this Fall.

Apple has finally released the much anticipated Mac OS Leopard 10.5.5 update today, fixing more than 30 issues the operating system and related applications. The question on everyone’s mind is: does this update fix the problems I’ve been having with MobileMe?

Whether it is Evernote, Ubiquity, QuickSilver or TextExpander, I have a growing arsenal of productivity tools that keep me from wasting time on my computer.
