iPhoto to FaceBook: Publish your Christmas pics
It’s the Monday after Christmas and you’ve probably got better things to do. Still, you should probably get your holiday snaps off your camera and share them on FaceBook where friends and family can enjoy them too. Here’s a painless (and free way) to get that photo of Uncle Fred wearing reindeer antlers out of Apple’s (consumer) photo editing and management application and onto the Web for all the world to see and enjoy.
Yes, it is possible to create an album in iPhoto, then export it to the desktop and then upload those photos to FaceBook. It’s not elegant and you’ll lose any comments you may have added, but is doable in a “been there done that” sort of way.
Now, before you go through all of those steps and do all that work (again), have a look at Facebook Exporter iPhoto 1.0.5—a much simpler and faster way to get the job done.
To get started, just download (191K) Facebook Exporter iPhoto, then install (be sure to quit iPhoto first) and then:
☞ Select Photos (or album) in your iPhoto Library
—Hold the Command (⌘) and click for non-contiguous selections
—Click “Export” in the “File” menu (⌘ + Shift + E), then click the “Facebook” tab

☞ Pick a Facebook Album (or create a new one)
☞ Add Captions
☞ Tag Your Friends
☞ Export
—Be sure to log into your FaceBook account and approve the photos you just exported. That is, uploaded pics remain in “review pending” limbo until you make them visible via your profile.
Also, if you are a Shutterfly or Flickr fan, be sure to check out Shutterfly Export Assistant 1.1 and Flickr eXporter iPhoto Plugin (FFXporter). Both are easy to use and free.
