Steve Jobs to be President Obama’s CTO?!?
The real reason Apple’s CEO won’t be giving the keynote at this year’s—and likely last ever—Macworld San Francisco isn’t because he’s sick and dying or a lack of hot, new, “insanely-great” products or even silly behind-the-scenes back biting. That is, our Mr. Jobs might never leave the company for another company, though the brain behind the Mac, iPod and iPhone might be persuaded to hear clarion call of public service.
Is the world ready—now or ever—for the next incarnation of Steve Jobs?
MacSoda set tongues wagging this weekend went it speculated that the reason Steve Jobs won’t on stage at San Francisco’s Moscone Center introducing Apple’s newest desktop Macs and next-gen operating system is that he’s secretly preparing to become President (elect) Barack Obama and the nation’s first ever Chief Technology Officer. MacSoda writes:
I was watching the news I thought of an interesting possibility… what if Steve Jobs isn’t stepping down due to his illness, but because he wants to take another job? You might say, ‘Steve would never take any job over Apple… he loves the company! Why would he leave for another company?’ but my answer would be that he’s not leaving for another company, but rather for our government…
Well, that’s an interesting though highly flawed idea. Yes, America could certainly make good use of the visionary, master creator that is Steve Jobs.
Still, does anyone really believe the Apple founder’s abrasive, sometimes abusive style would go over in the cloying, insider atmosphere of our nation’s capital? I’m thinking the first member of America’s upper legislative body that Steve publicly labeled a “Senatard” would be all it would take to see our boy unceremoniously booted.
Does the US need a hands on, detail obsessed visionary that is unafraid of bashing heads to get what he wants? Yup. Can you imagine we’ll get him? Nope…
What’s your take?

I like Steve’s computers but not his politics so I would want him to stay put. I am sure to be in the minority but it is like the Hollywood stars, they should just dance and entertain and leave the thinking to others.

I also admire Steve Jobs for what he has given technology in the form of APPLE. I only buy Apple computers. I love the iphone, ipod, the software, you name it. I read three books about him; iCon; The Second Coming of Steve Jobs; and Inside Steve’s Brain. I enjoyed all of them. He is great, charismatic, a visionary, what else good can I say that hasn’t been said about him before. As for his politics, I think he should stick with technology and stay where he is, because I definitely don’t agree with him in that department.

There have been numerous U.S. CTOs. Nothing new, except the failure to learn about the past by the current generation.
