Top 10 reasons PsyStar should be allowed to pirate OS X

January 13, 2009

The Miami, Florida-based Mac clone maker’s defense is a moving target that gets more farcical with each new court filing. And, lord knows the company’s most-recent legal justifications for why it should be allowed to pirate “bundle” OS X with its white box personal computers kind of makes you wonder if they are just stalling until they can get out of town.

Which got me thinking—if the truth is this absurd, would anyone be able to tell the difference if we just started making this stuff up? Hmm, now that is a truly interesting question which deserves an honest, we swear, so help us god, answer.

Thereupon, here’s the official mac.blorge Top 10 list of reasons why PsyStar should be allowed to freely pirate Apple’s OS X:

10. We know where Saddam hid the weapons of mass destruction.

9. Apple’s so-called end user license agreement (EULA) violates the Sherman Antitrust Act

8. We’re doing Apple a favor—look how piracy helped Microsoft conquer the world. Really, they should be paying us!

7. Apple doesn’t really own the trademark for OS X (They didn’t attach proper postage and after that the envelop kind of disappeared in Phil Schiller’s office).

6. This is a smokescreen, a conspiracy to cover up the fact that Steve Jobs isn’t a US citizen.

5. Psystar distributes computers with legitimately bittorrented copies of Mac OS. Many of those copies were directly downloaded from Apple. We logged the IPs!

4. Give us what we want or Clarus the Dogcow will sleep with the fishes!

3. Don’t let Apple confuse the issue. Global warming is really what all of this about.

2. This is your last chance to find out about Saddam’s WMDs.

1. Everyone else is doing it!

There you have it, the mac.blorge Top 10 list—the real reasons (don’t make them hurt the dogcow)—PsyStar should be allowed to freely pirate Mac OS X…

I always felt that Apple should make a OS that can run on non Apple computers. Who knows? Maybe they could have had 25% of the OS market by now.

You always felt that Apple should make a OS to run on NON Apple computers??? Umm yeah, THAT MAKES SENSE! Hopefully in the future we will see Toyotas with Ford steering wheels.

If Apple chooses to make an OS that is truly multi-platform, then APPLE should be the ones that do it, not some third party company operating on the skirt of the law.

I’m rooting for Psystar. #8 sounds reasonable to me. I’m sick and tired of corporations abusing and extending copyright law to control what people can do with things they own.
