How to: Desktop pictures for your Mac
The world is beautiful and there’s no better way to remind yourself of that than to put a little piece of it on your desktop. Moreover, being the utterly modern and advanced operating system that it is, OS X gives you plenty of ways to get images into and display them on your Macintosh.
Of course, you can just search Google for Mac desktop images. Nevertheless, there are people who for years have specialized in desktops for the rest of us.

Right (Control) click it and select “Use Image as Desktop Picture”
And, you know what? Although you can use just about any picture or graphic as a desktop (ie bigger is better), our friends at Adobe have posted a tutorial for those that want to roll their own and do it right.
Icons?
There are other sources, but there is only one Icon Factory. Of course, you get icons and also CandyBar, which is the gold standard for managing—yes, Virginia, you can do that—your icons.
