The MacBook mini: A pretty sweet fake…
From the pantheon of perhaps real and more likely photo-shopped fantasies that appeared on the web over the years, this weekend’s rendering of a new, unreleased Apple ultra light portable has garnered a lot of attention and set tongue wagging, not to mention fan boys drooling.
Although the news and photo are out of Russia, a 9 to 5 Mac reader saw to it that the story made it across the frosty steppes and out of the motherland. Rather than bore you with a description, the image scanned from a magazine is really where it’s at.
Drool worthy?
The specs from the article:
• 10.4″ WXGA display.
• 1280 x 768 pixel with LED backlighting.
• NVIDIA MCP79
• Intel Atom Z740 1.83GHz with 1MB L2 cache.
• 2GB DDR3-800.
• NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
• 64GB Solid State Drive.
• Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n
• 1 x USB 2.0
• 1 x Mini Display Port
• Battery Li-Ion 5100mA
After reading the specs the first words that spring to mind “too good to be true” as it has much of what the rest of us have said we’d want in a mini notebook from Apple, including the crown jewels: Intel Atom processor paired with nVidia’s sweet, sweet MPC79.
Jesus Diaz at Gizmodo perhaps puts it best: “I don’t know what this is and I don’t care. It may be a MacBook Mini concept. Or a crazy leak. Or just a perfect fake. Whatever it is, it’s beautiful. I want one.”
Well said, dude.
So, what is it? Complete BS? The new MacBook Air? A MacBook mini as suggested? Whatever it is, I’m with Jesus—I want one, too…
What’s your take?
