New Apple ads continue theme

New Apple ads continue themeThe latest round of ads from Apple are out and, as usual, are generating a lot of buzz, both negative and positive, depending on which side of the controversy you were on in the first place.

The new ads continue to hammer away at the same issues that their predecessors have; no big change there. They are, as always, entertaining, or at least as entertaining as a thirty second ad is likely to be if it is not during the Super Bowl. And each does a good job of getting across the points that Apple wants to make.

The first shows PC, on the phone, trying to get help with a problem. At each step in the process, he gets more and more frustrated at being unable to find someone to help. All this time, Mac is standing with a Mac Genius at his side. This ad does a good job of illustrating that with Apple, there is at least a single point of support, and even a real person, from which to get help.

The second new ad is a direct riposte to the recent Microsoft PC ads, where a mythical user finds her perfect computer from among the ranks of Windows PCs. When the ad opens, A long line of men stands behind PC, each representing one type of PC. In three easy steps (size, speed, and ease of use) a different mythical user named Megan eliminates all of the PCs and is left with only the Mac. This is a very effective countermeasure to the Microsoft ads, and on about the same level.

The last of the three new ads shows PC hosting a radio show on the subject of how to select the right PC. Again, he is shown as not being able to satisfy the demands of prospective buyers. Although not as effective as the second ad, it does continue to drive the Apple messages home.

You can see these new ads (and all the past ads) at this Apple link. Apple advertising has been relentless in driving home the same points for years now, while at the same time displaying a sense of humor. PC fans, of course, fail to see any humor in these ads, just as Apple owners are not impressed by the recent Microsoft ads. One wonders if anyone’s mind is actually being changed.
