CES doubles size of planned 2010 Apple pavilion

May 22, 2009

Apparently the organizers of the last big computer trade show in Las Vegas have never heard the old saying, ‘You shouldn’t kick a man when he’s down.’ Or, perhaps, they know from experience that life’s a lot easier when the competition can’t fight back and that you should make the most of such serendipitous opportunities.

PCMagazine, the very same people who love Apple’s iLife ‘09 (much to PC’s annoyance), reports that the Consumer Electronics Association, which runs CES, is doubling the size of the 2010 CES show’s “iLounge Pavilion” to 25,000-square-feet. The space will feature iPod, iPhone and Mac applications and accessories, as well as iPod/iPhone app makers.

CES announced shortly after the conclusion of this year’s show for the rest us that they would for the first be offering a pavilion dedicated to Apple products and third-party suppliers. Originally, planners set aside 4,000-square-feet for the faithful with this amount  growing larger and larger due to demand.

Give it to us straight, doc

Late last year, Apple unceremoniously announced Macworld 2009 would be its last, ending a 20-plus year run. Further, in February show organizer International Data Group announced it was moving the show from its traditional early January timeframe to February, which is was said would make the show more convenient for attendees, as well as reduce travel and lodging costs.

So, what do you think, is Macworld dead or what? That said, I wonder how much longer the print version of Macworld magazine will hang on? I guessing it’ll be gone in less than two years…
