Apple says they’ll sell whatever they can wherever they can, as long as publishers and royalty collecting boards issue them the licenses, and this has been the absurd 19th Century situation Europe finds itself mired in as it tries to navigate the digital era—27 mostly little, squabbling, jealous fiefdoms.

Back in the day, ACDSee was a pretty able image editor, though the current Pro iteration is positioned as a digital photo manager only. That said, they have much to prove before they will pry $150—what the PC version costs—from my wallet.

Apple has once again been sued for copyright infringement, this time by the famed Cartier high-end watch manufacturer. But the suit was dropped almost as quickly as it was brought.

There are gigabytes of hidden files accumulating on your Mac. In fact, there are individual jpeg and png thumbnails for every Web page you’ve visited since downloading Safari 4 beta, including images of that “transgender swine in heels” (i.e. the other white meat), Web site you seem so fond of.

Apparently the organizers of the last big computer trade show in Las Vegas have never heard the old saying, ‘You shouldn’t kick a man when he’s down.’ Or, perhaps, they know from experience that life’s a lot easier when the competition can’t fight back and that you should make the most of such serendipitous opportunities.

This story raises some very interesting questions that have little to do with Apple, like why is a Taiwanese union protesting treatment of Chinese laborers given that the two countries are still technically at war and don’t have relations let alone share labor unions? There’s more going on here than meets the eye.
