Apple.com tops all other computer hardware sites
Cupertino came through the last economic downturn strong because it continued to invest in R&D, innovative products and a strong infrastructure. It appears the same strategy in this much more severe recession, as indicated by this one measure, is once again yielding good results.
Nielsen (.pdf) reports that Apple.com was the top hardware manufacturer Web site in May 2009 even as traffic in this segment grew by 22 percent year-over-year. Unique visitors to Apple et al grew from 57.3 million in May 2008 to 70.1 million May 2009, statistics that stand the “price over quality” conventional wisdom of the recession on its.
As the number one hardware maker destination in May 2009, Apple.com attracted 55.7 million unique visitors with an incredible average time per person of 1 hour and 14 minutes—most Web sites measure dwell time in minutes and, just as often as not, seconds. Thereupon, although Nielsen doesn’t mention conversion, it seems fair to assume that some of those rubber necking are buying, a notion born out by the company’s Mac, iPod and iPhone sales which have generally held up better than the industry in general.
In good times and perhaps even more so in bad, innovation is where it’s at…
What’s your take?

I’m not sure it shows price over quality unless you break it down by category, the rumor mill runups and endless yammering about possible tablets, etc…..
Every one of those other sites have products that are widely available from many different sources.
I would only go to the HP site to download drivers because I don’t really want to pay list price for the hardware.
I do go to Dell to shop the outlet store, and for support.
Otherwise, you are taking wild generalizations over this info and projecting behavior using extremely shaky logic.
None of those sites are the main, or even a major source of sales except maybe Dell or Magic Jack.

Apple.com is one of the successful computer companies because of the best quality computer hardwares they are offering to the clients and Apple.com’s computer hardwares are really classy in terms of the design. No wonder they top other computer hardware sites.
