More Apple tablet rumors
The Apple tablet rumors continue to grow and expand, adding new detail in each iteration. Those details now include a September announcement, a November launch, and superb hi-def video.
The latest reports can be traced to someone who claims to have actually seen the device and held it in their hands. This first-hand report is unattributed, but is said to have come from an industry analyst and was reported in Barron’s. The unnamed analyst says that Apple expects the design to be finalized within the next six weeks on the 10-inch-screen tablet device from Cupertino. That would place design finalization in mid-September. If the report is correct, the device could be announced in late September for release in November, a fairly ambitious schedule, to say the least.
This same analyst says that the new tablet will be able to play high-definition video in quality that “is better than the average movie experience.” This reporter even has some information about the pricing of the new device, saying that it will sell for between $699 and $799. One would hope that the tablet would be able to do more than just play high-def video for a price like that, although how it will be able to beat the big screen in a theater remains to be seen.
In fact, many analysts and pundits have been hoping that the Apple tablet will be a highly functional computing device, able to do much more than pay high-definition video on a 10-inch screen. Those hopes have included a build-in iPhone usable through a headset, an OS X-like operating system, access to the App store and a wider range of OS X applications, a usable keyboard and powerful internet capabilities.
Perhaps they (and we) have been hoping for too much too soon. The initial model of the tablet may be on too much of a fast-track to include a new Apple designed and built processor, and a better operating system than iPhone OS 3.0. Perhaps what we will get first is “tablet lite,” with a more powerful and useful device coming next year, perhaps to be called Tablet Pro.

“That would place design finalization in mid-September.”
It is impossible…the design either internal or external HAS to be finalized prior to manufacture proceedures and moldings and factory configurations… let alone distribution lines.
If it’s been finalized then it’s been finalized at least 3 months prior to release.
I thought someone with a lil thought should have realized this???
