Don’t let the nattering nabobs of negativity and cataclysmic doom convince you otherwise — there’s nothing new in the world of Mac malware. That said, there are places out there on the Internet (i.e. porn sites) that will tell you to install software that really isn’t software.

Thankfully, there’s no sign of “ooh, Blu-ray” in any of these images supposedly of Apple’s next generation media jukebox, management, storefront, device manager and Julienne potato slicer (why the hell not, everything else is in there). Then again, odd angle photos of a computer monitor must be one heckuva of lot easier to fake than actual screen captures.

In an admission that it may have been hasty in withdrawing matte, non-glare options from its line of laptops, Apple has reinstated that option to glossy screens at a price of $50.

Everybody that makes a browser claims theirs is the fastest, but which of any of them is telling the truth? When it comes to speed is Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Opera or Internet Explorer truly tops or is there realy no effective way to measure this ill defined concept?

Adding yet another feature to Apple’s already absurdly bloated media jukebox, management, storefront and device manager application doesn’t strike me as reasonable, let alone a slam dunk. With Snow Leopard and QuickTime X arriving next month, why wouldn’t the mothership just add Blu-ray support to its simply reliable DVD Player or QuickTime Player?
