Rumor: Jobs to host September 9 iPod event
Given how unlikely it is that the long rumored and lusted for Mac touch, Mac tablet, iPod touch or whatever it gets named will ship this year, perhaps the most we can hope for from next Wednesday’s product introduction is an appearance by Apple’s long unseen chief executive officer and dear leader.
Fortune, quoting Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, says that we should expect that Steve Jobs will introduce the company’s line of refreshed iPods at the company’s It’s only rock and roll media event.
An appearance by the long sight unseen Apple CEO will likely be greeted by investors as “a slight positive … the first public confirmation of Jobs’ health since his return to the company,” according to Munster.
Please give a warm welcome to…
Whoever takes the stage at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater on Wednesday, Sept. 9 will likely introduce new camera equipped iPod nanos and iPod touches. Further, although I still have my doubts, multiple sources say to expect a Facebook enhanced version of iTunes 9.
Further, it’s widely expected that Apple will introduce or at least announce Cocktail, an enhanced digital music album format that likely will feature expanded liner notes, photos and perhaps additional content, such as exclusive tracks and videos.
So, do you think Steve Jobs will stroll onto the stage in San Francisco next week?
