Safari Stand, copy HTML tag updated for Snow Leopard
When Apple shipped Snow Leopard, one of the most powerful ways to extend Safari got broken in the mix, taking with it one of my favorite add-on features. It’s taken some time, but required input manager and utility suite itself have all been refreshed, bringing them up-to-date.
And, here’s the skinny — in order to use Safari Stand (v4.0SL170), which adds powerful features and functionality to Safari, you will first need to download and install SIMPL (v0.9.7a), which is an input manager. The versions linked here are Snow Leopard specific, though versions that run on Leopard, etc are, of course, still available.
To use these tools, you should first quite Safari, install and, although not technically necessary, log out or restart your Mac.
Not a one-trick pony
Although Safari Stand allows you easily load plugins manually, tweak encoding, configure the search bar, etc. — all powerful stuff — I just use it for the ability to “Copy Link HTML Tag,†which is damned convenient compared to manually assembling links.
Seriously, just right-click on the link you want to copy and then just paste it wherever you need it — it’s silly simple and very, very useful.
Has anyone run across a utility or command-line hack to restore tabs to the top of Safari’s windows? Five atta-boys to the first reader to deliver…
