Snow Leopard bests Windows 7 in benchmarks
Of course the Windows fan boys will whimper and whinge that one or another aspect of these tests aren’t “fair” or otherwise inaccurate. Nevertheless, this is just the latest in a string of many comparisons, going back over four or five years that show the Mac is just plain faster, better and longer lasting.
News.com has compared the performance of OS X and Vista SP4 Windows 7 on a MacBook Pro using a battery of standard and some not so standard measures. These benchmarks include Call of Duty (3D game), QuickTime (WTF?), iTunes, multimedia, start up, shut down and battery life.

This is faster, that’s not. Benchmarks comparing different operating system are difficult to get just right, always leaving room for partisans to nit and pick. Nevertheless, for a number of years now, Apple’s MacBook Pro has consistently been shown to be the fastest Windows notebook available — not Dell, HP, Lenovo or whomever you wanna look at.
So, Windows fan boys, bitch and moan all you want, but Windows 7 still comes up short of OS X even before it ships. Moreover, given Apple’s rapid fire operating system updates, not to mention the future proof hooks built into Snow Leopard (OpenCL, 64-bit, Grand Central, etc.), the performance gap much in evidence today is just going to keep growing.
Yeah, you might wanna keep gaming on the down low, but there’s no need to actually pay for a Windows box and all of those registry, malware, etc. problems…
What’s your take?

So chortle all you want Apple fan boy, but 7 is still aimed as a platform to run other services. The big focus is network performance and enterprise concerns.
The consumer desktop is lower priority.Your rapid fire updates comes at a cost of flexibility and options. There was a 64 bit version of Windows 2000 and XP and versions of Linux for years.
The desktop is the main focus for Apple. Congratulations on being the tallest midget in the circus.

Not so fast Aquaadverse.
Prattling on about 64 bit is pointless. less than 3% of all Windows users have gone over to it. And that is despite years of MS trying to push it onto computer manufacturers.
As for big networks & enterprise concenrs etc being the big end of town. You clearly are a MS fan boy.
Might I suggest opening your eyes to reality.
You might call Apple the biggest midget in the Circus, but the way MS & Google are shaping up; you may find MS will become a pygmy elephant.

“The big focus is network performance and enterprise concerns.”
Clueless remark. The enterprise application that MOST benefits from 64 bit operation is database, and if your running your database on Windows, instead of a grown-up OS– some version of UNIX or LINUX, your a fool.

At least Windows 7 is not as slow as Vista.
I like having Microsoft around. I just wish they’d come up with something revolutionary, not something sustainable.

I’ve used Windows 7. At first sight, I said “Wow, Windows 7 looks like it’s trying to be Snow Leopard.”

Has anybody actually gone over to news.com and read the article, Windows seems to have a few benchmarks over the Mac OS that were not published, Plus Multitasking and Multimedia are two different benchmarks, take that into account and the chart published above does not seem that much in favour of the Mac.
Im highly disappointed in this article, The Mac has its merits but someone who pushes miss information is not doing the Mac fraternity any good.

Well, as my name suggests, I am an Agnostic when it comes to OS’s. Every OS has its good & bad points. That includes Windows, OS X as well as Linux & yes…even Unix. I currently own 12 machines and run a variety of OS’s just for fun and to keep my brain sharp.
My conclusion is that Windows 7 is definitely no slouch. In fact, its a vast improvement over Vista which was a dog.
As much as I love using Linux & OS X, I can say that many Windows users will be happy with Windows 7.
I have even got it running perfectly well on my olde Compaq Deskpro (SFF). And that old machine has only a Pentium 111 chip with 512 MB of ram on board.
It has some surprisingly good features, as well as some crappy ones.
But like I said, every OS has its good & bad features. In the end, its ultimately about personal experience, taste & money.
And on that last point, Microsoft should seriously think about slashing their price for the Ultimate version of W7.
It’s way too high. A factor that may actually hurt Microsoft’s flagging fortunes.

And you are clearly clueless. The author of the article is the one who is touting a 64bit OS and crowing like Apple just revolutionized it. I merely pointed out this is not a new thing.
Microsoft makes most of it’s money from corporate business. While the income from Windows declined, they enjoyed record revenue from various Server Products and seat licensing. $50 OEM licenses isn’t their biggest source of income. They won’t rewrite the OS from scratch and they won’t put in functionality that causes problems in the rest of their products. And they certainly aren’t going to do it in response to losing 10% of those OEM license sales.
You can’t accurately look at Microsoft solely from a “desktop is the center of the universe” anymore than you can look at Apple solely by Mac sales. OSX isn’t going to worry Microsoft until Apple makes a serious push for the server market.

I am not attacking the writer, for the simple reason he is entitled to his own opinion. In case, you haven’t noticed, it is his page.
You may disagree with his opinion and thats fine; but your purile belligerence is uncalled for.
Either grow up or do us all a favor by taking your infantile mindset elswhere.

I’m using Windows for fifteen years now without any problems. I like it. If you like a Mac, fine with me, but stop this pitiful “Mac is the best”, “made with a Mac” etc. If you love a Mac, fine, keep using it but stop trying to force your religion onto others.
There a more than enough operating systems to choose from so let people choose what they like by testing these operating systems themselves without being overrun by the tainted opinions from the likes of you. If you are a Mac, Linux or Windows fan is fine by me. Begin with telling why you like a Mac but try it without flaming other products, that will be something new for a Mac user but maybe you will even like it?
I know this will be difficult because your guru the almighty Apple is limited to telling the world that they are the best because all the other products and especially Windows are useless. Look at the history of Apple and their products and especially the Mac. How many times did they rewrite their operating system forcing software programmers to rewrite their software and forcing users to buy that new version of the software? The last big alter was the best of them all, they based their operating system on Linux using only their own interface and switching from Motorola to Intel. Basically there is no Mac operating system anymore.
Is an Apple computer faster? Well opinions differ, I tried one for a superfast system and was heavily disappointed. I send the system back and changed to a Dell. That Dell was faster, not immensely but enough, it was also on a price of 5600 Euros, 800 Euro cheaper with exact the same specifications, but hey, that are only my experiences. I believe that there will be situations where an Apple is faster than a PC or that there will be situations that some software is faster on a Mac then on Windows but the other way around is also the case.
Isn’t there already enough misery in the world because people think other people are less because they have another religion or skin color? Do you have to bring this kind of misery into the world of computer users and the internet also?
I was just looking for some information about Windows because I needed something answered. And where took this search me? Another frustrated Apple user who is flaming Windows. Oh please start using your Apple/Mac where it should be intended for, to do your work or to have some fun, just stop trying to force you religion onto others.
Please!

The expression is actually “Calling the Kettle black”
And while your at it, ask your carer to explain the difference between insult and opinion.
Slinging insults (Ad-Hominems) merely undermine whatever opinion you may have contributed.
So in answer to your question, there is no irony in my response, given that your comments were insults and not opinion.
Cheers olde son…
You must try harder… lol…
