OS X 10.6.2 includes hints of unreleased MacBook Pros
Is Apple readying revised pro portables with faster processors and crunchier graphics? A Spanish Mac Web site has been trawling the depths of an upcoming release of Snow Leopard point update and found evidence of just that.
Spain’s Applesana (via AppleInsider) has plumbed the depths of OS X 10.6.2 [10C531], a developer release of the next Snow Leopard patch, and found references to MacBook Pro 6.1 and MacBook Pro 6.1b — the current models released in June carry 5.x designations.
Thereupon, our old continent friends say that indications point to Apple pro portables, at least two models, with Quad Core Mobile processors and ATI 4500 series graphics chips inside.
According to AppleInsider, Intel’s Core i7 mobile processors (a.k.a. Clarksfield) offer better performance with multi-threaded applications and can increase the processor clock speed up to 75 percent to match workload.
Assuming our Spanish cousins are correct, the use of i7 processors and ATI graphics will represent a major portable upgrade, making Apple’s mobile workhorses even more powerful desktop replacements. Also, it’s interesting to note how quickly the mothership is moving to ditch nVidia graphics following that company’s announcement it had suspended chipset development.
Is there another Apple product announcement, tomorrow perhaps, in our future?

Yes this is exciting. Its a safe guess that the high end 15 and 17 will get these enhancements. The question it, what will happen to the 13 inch MBP? Will it stay C2D?
